Idea Napkin No. 2"

2.    There is a communication problem within the online classroom. Online students are not able to communicate with one another like an on-campus student can. I am offering a solution to this problem by creating an application for phones, tablets, and computers that allow online students to communicate with each other.

3. The target consumers are the universities and the online students.
4.    The universities that offer this form of communication have a step on their competition. Also, students that want to communicate within their courses this application would allow for students to study groups, note sharing, and class discussions. The universities specially need to set themselves apart from other universities and this application will allow for better communication for everyone involved. Aiming at student as well because these are the individuals that have the most to gain by actually using the product.

5.    As an online student the one consistent issue I face is communication within my classes. The universities professors and TA’s rely on heavily on email for communicating with the students. The students’ discussion boards are littered with assignments and not discussions. This communication set-up really focuses on the majority of students studying, learning and preparing for exams on their own with no real interaction with anyone really. . This application provides better communication for the classroom experience.

I believe everything fits together in this concept. Myself, my skills, my aspiration. The offering and target audience, everything here has the ability to make this concept work and be profitable.
"Feedback memo"

I received support on this concept I am offering. However, to ask what are my weakest areas in this concept I would consider is the acceptance from the professors and universities. I say this because I think they will be the hardest to sell. The online student is completely different than the on campus student. But, the online students need just much attention if not more.

  1. Hey Kyle,

You have a great business concept here, and I'm sure this will benefit many students. Great job!

  2. I think this app would be very helpful for most students taking an online class. Being in an online class takes as much dedication as a traditional class. This app seems like it would allow students in online classes to effectively communicate with each other in an easier and more casual way than on the Canvas website. Setting up a study group would seem much easier with this app than on a traditional online platform. I think one major negative would be that teachers and TAs would not be able to monitor what is happening on this app like they do on a website like Canvas or blogger.com.
