1. What
is the unmet need? UF Online students are missing a lot of aspects that an on
campus student have the opportunity to do. One main aspect is being able to
study with other students in their respective classes. Therefore, my idea is an app that connects
online students and allow for these students to create study groups easily.
2. Who
has the need? UF Online Students
3. Where
did the need come from (is it new, or has it always existed)? This need is
rather new. UF is fairly new to the distant learning program.
4. What
are people doing to meet this need now? As of now the students are left to
create their own study groups. But, from my experience it is nearly impossible
to create an online study group.

I
believe that the majority of online students do not attempt to study with their
classmates because of the difficulty setting up study groups. Through my
interviews it clarified my hypothesis. I believe that an entrepreneur must
absorb the feedback in order to better understand their product.
I agree that an app to make it easier to study with other online students would be a great idea! That being said I also feel like most people who take online courses really have crazy schedules and trying to get a group of people together would be difficult. I like that your second interview, he explained that he liked to keep to himself, so he did not try for a study group.

ReplyDeleteI am also an online student and would benefit from this. I usually send a message to everyone in the class and the last 2 semesters I received less than 5 replies for people who were interested. The scheduling would be hard but I think it could be possible. There are a lot of programs out there like Connect, Skype, Lync that provide this type of meeting atmosphere but maybe if there was something designed specifically for UF students it would be put to use? You make it and I'll sign up and give it a try.

Hi Kyle! I think this is a wonderful idea! UF Online students have a very unique experience going to school without getting the traditional classroom experience. I think that they would stand to benefit a lot from being able to interact with other students going through the same thing. Maybe this app could also make study groups according to geographic location, that way if there are a handful of students that live relatively close to each other they could maybe coordinate to meet up and study together! Just a thought, great idea!
ReplyDeleteThis is an amazing idea. This would be a great way to socialize but not really socialize. It could have a search option to see how many groups are open and see if any are full. It could be mixed with google a bit to share notes through google drive. Also a bit of Microsoft, so if they wanted to group video chat that would work. This would help with people who are in different location and have funky schedules.
