The university online
students are unable to easily find and create study groups within their courses
because there are challenges to find where, when, and how to create study

Hey Kyle,
ReplyDeleteI like your idea, because I feel it would work with both on-campus and online students. I am an on-campus student and I still have trouble setting up study groups. An app would help with a special login for each class. That way only students enrolled in the class can form or join a study group.
Professors try and form a community on Facebook and have introduction posts, but I feel students are not very receptive of them.
I feel you may have something if you can put your own twist to it with the app. One other thing is to dig deeper and try and get as much information from your interviews as possible. I had a problem with the length of my interviews on this assignment so I need to dig deeper too.
Good luck and try and come up with more questions and try and really put your app together.

ReplyDeleteKyle,
ReplyDeleteI posted on your blog last week in regards to this and glad to see you didn't change your topic. I really feel like this is a good idea and after listening to some of your interviewees it seems that not only offsite but onsite students could also benefit from this. It might even be easier to launch something like this on site and then see how it works before extending it to off campus students. Just a thought but I like this idea and hope it comes to fruition so I can use it!

ReplyDeleteHey Kyle,
ReplyDeleteI think your app would be beneficial, even if students opted not to use it. A platform to help organize study groups would aid students, especially in some of the more difficult classes the university has to offer. However, to make the app stand out, I feel like you would need to help differentiate it from programs that help to organize in-person study groups. For instance, depending on the class, you could build in different games that would help students retain information. The students could input material that they need to study, and then work together or in teams against one another to better grasp the information.
It's like Marcos said: If you can put your own spin on this app to make it unique and appealing to college kids, it stands a good chance of being successful!
This app would be very helpful to most of the students in online classes. Setting up study groups can be very beneficial and I think if you were to launch this app it would have the possibility of becoming popular among students on campus who are taking a couple online classes. Study groups could help other students in numerous ways including: retaining information better due to going over it with other people, making new friends who you could eventually study with, etc.
