Idea Napkin No. 1

1.    I am Kyle Matson. I am a Navy veteran. I served 4 years with Helicopter Squadron Nine and completed 1 deployment on the USS George H. W Bush. My skills include hardworking, resilient and adventurous. My aspirations are to live an eventful life, be a good husband to my wife, and be a great father to my two boys. If I were to pursue this business proposal I believe it would play a role in my life. I believe that work is apart of person.

2.    There is a communication problem within the online classroom. Online students are not able to communicate with one another like an on-campus student can. I am offering a solution to this problem by creating an application for phones, tablets, and computers that allow online students to communicate with each other.

3.    The target consumers are the universities and the online students.

4.    The universities that offer this form of communication have a step on their competition. Also, students that want to communicate within their courses this application would allow for students to study groups, note sharing, and class discussions.

5.    As an online student the one consistent issue I face is communication within my class. Currently, the universities professors rely on email for communicating with the students. The students have discussion boards within the classroom however, the majority of students study and prepare for exams on their own. This application provides better communication for the classroom experience.

6.    I believe that the concept I provide appropriate fit the targeted consumer and both parties would be better off after a transaction.

  1. Hey Kyle,
It's great to see that you have narrowed your target customers to university and online students. Maybe on your next Idea Napkin you can go into detail of how these elements tie together, and perhaps what your weakest areas are in terms of your concept. Definitely few things to think about. Good job!

However, it means there are lots of competition of this business so keep working hard! Great job and thank you for share!

  4. Kyle,

Great response. I agree with your issue concerning communication across the online platforms, especially considering that some individuals still have difficulty communicating with the professor or other students in a regular live class. Also I agree that a mobile app is the solution. No one rarely uses canvas on their phone, as most class assignments and communication are done on a laptop or desktop. Keep working on the great idea.
